1. Singleplex qPCR

• only one gene either the gene of interest or the control is amplified in each tube.
  Both SYBR green based qPCR mastermix and TaqMan probe based mastermix can be used.

2. Multiplex qPCR

• Amplifying 2, 3, or 4 genes (up to 5) in the same tube.
• Only TaqMan probe based mastermix can be used.
• Reduce the amount of sample required.
• Cost reduction
• Amplification of multiple genes in the same wells improves precision by minimizing pipetting errors
